New Executive Orders for Education
President Trump has signed six education-related executive orders aimed at restoring excellence, innovation, and common sense to our Education system. These orders represent a powerful shift away from ideological indoctrination and global influence, towards practical outcomes, personal responsibility, and national strength. As Secretary of Education Linda McMahon stated, “These actions put American students and families first again.”
The new executive orders:
- Reforming Accreditation to Strengthen Higher Education
Breaks the monopoly of private accreditors, encourages competition, and shifts focus from DEI mandates to student success and workforce outcomes.
- Transparency Regarding Foreign Influence at American Universities
Stops foreign regimes like China and Qatar from funneling billions into American universities to influence curriculum and steal intellectual property. The Department of Education will now “follow the money,” crack down on unreported contracts, and restore universities to places of free inquiry, not foreign propaganda.
- Reinstating Common Sense School Discipline Policies
Previously, schools were pressured to apply equity-based discipline that often ignored dangerous behavior. President Trump’s order reestablishes discipline based solely on a student’s actions, ensuring safe and orderly classrooms where students can thrive and learn.
- White House Initiative to Promote Excellence and Innovation at Historically Black Colleges and Universities
Deepens partnerships with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), empowering them as engines of opportunity and local economic development. Secretary McMahon emphasized her eagerness to expand best practices and innovation among these institutions to elevate their national support.
- Advance Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth
To maintain American leadership in a tech-driven global economy, this order prioritizes early, responsible, AI education. It equips teachers to prepare students for high-paying careers in the AI revolution and ensures classrooms keep pace with accelerating innovation.
- Preparing Americans for High-Paying Skilled Trade Jobs of the Future
Promotes apprenticeships, dual enrollment, and trade education to prepare students for sustaining careers without requiring a four year degree. The Trump Administration is aligning national resources to build skilled, workforce-ready graduates across the country.
The new executive orders affirm the tide is turning. In line with the executive orders, up to 50% ($350 billion) of funding for education will be redirected from supporting overbloated university systems, to growing workforce development and skilled trades to make America competitive. Also, DEI policies are being dismantled at every level in public education.
However, 19 state Attorney Generals have filed lawsuits against the new administration to stop this order. States wanting to keep DEI policies include CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, MD, MA, MI, MN, NV, NJ, NM, NY, OR, RI, VE, WA, and WI. Please pray for Christians in these states to stand up for the children and resist DEI indoctrination.

Executive orders only last as long as the leader who signs them remains in office. For these changes to take root and become permanent, they must be adopted and upheld by local and state education leaders. As the Department of Education prepares to send power back to the states, local engagement is more important than ever!
